Managed IT infrastructure provider Data393 announced on Monday it has signed an agreement to provide Bonfils Blood Center in Colorado with Data393`s metro area Ethernet connectivity and colocation services through Data393`s facility in the Denver Tech Center.

This agreement enables Bonfils to access the consistently available infrastructure it requires to communicate with its nine community donor facilities and more than 200 healthcare facilities in Colorado and other cities.  

"We needed to expand our bandwidth to the Internet and to colocate key servers as part of our disaster recovery plan," says Mark Thompson, chief information officer and senior VP of Bonfils. "Data393 has allowed us to do both with a single, integrated, cost-effective solution."

Data393 says its metro area Ethernet service provides companies like Bonfils with dedicated Internet access with speeds up to 100Mbps without the expense associated with traditional dedicated telco circuits. Data393`s SAS70 Type II facility offers a secure, reliable location in which to house disaster recovery equipment.

Web analytics firm Netcraft announced last week that Rackspace is the most reliable hosting company for September 2006, followed closely by managed hosting provider Datapipe and colocation and dedicated hosting provider Kattare.

The San Antonio, Texas Web host has ranked consistently in Netcraft`s standings since the firm began tracking Web performance in 2003. This marks the fifth time this year that Rackspace has been the most reliable Web host, and achieved this recognition six times in 2005.

Eight of the 10 most reliable Web hosting provides run their sites on a Linux platform, while the remaining two use an unknown OS. Netcraft measures and publishes the response times of fifty leading Web hosting providers` sites. The performance measurements are made at fifteen minute intervals from separate points around the Internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.

From a customers` point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more significant than outages on the Web hosts` own sites, since this indicates reliability of routing, and is the reason why Netcraft ranks its table by fewest failed requests, rather than shortest periods of outage.

Internet backbone company, Level 3 Communications, European Markets Division, has inked a new agreement with EWE TEL GmbH, to provide network services across Western Europe. Under the terms of the agreement, Level 3 will provide 10GigE LAN PHY wavelength service, a standard enhancement to the Level 3 intercity wavelength service.

The new service will connect EWE TEL`s main Internet exchange points in Europe. EWE TEL GmbH is one of the largest regional carriers in Germany, providing a large share of telecommunications services in northern Germany. As a full service provider, EWE TEL has approximately 300,000 customers, more than 30,000 business customers, and offers services including mobile, private line, dark fiber and other network solutions.
